Ok, so for everyone that is wondering what happened with Andy....Here's the "bumper sticker version." Dave and I came home from our Valentines Day date. Dave went upstairs to check on Andy and realised that his IV was leaking his meds (flolan) and blood was leaking out also. We knew at that point that he was going to need a new Central line (Broviac). We knew for a while that this one was on it's last leg and would need to be replaced soon. So while the timing of this incident was a surprise the actual problem was not. Dave rushed him to children's hospital and they put a regular IV in to begin the infusion of Flolan again. We believe he was off his meds for as long as 2 hours. The infusion pumps his medicine into him every 3 minutes. So to be off for even 10 minutes can be life threatening. He was then transported to Vanderbilt by ambulance the next morning and had surgery monday morning. All things considered Andy was a trooper. He is doing great!
All of that said....We are so thankful to the Lord for His soveriegn work in Andy's life. We were supposed to spend the night out on saturday night and decided to cancel and do it another evening. We came home and Dave went up to check on the boys and noticed that his shirt was wet and bloody....THAT WAS THE SOVERIEGN WORK OF GOD on Andy's behalf. He could have gone all night with out this medicine and we wouldn't have even know until morning. I am so thankful that the Lord is allowing us to spend another day with our precious little boy. Thanks for all your prayers and encouraging emails, calls, texts, and FB comments. We are thankful for our family and friends.
If you are wondering why Andy has a IV in his chest you can look at the beginning of our blog for his story.
